A Perugian family tradition for 70 years now and that has been passed down for four generations. So it was that in 1954, Luigi Berardi and his wife Annunziata opened a laundry in Corso Cavour in Perugia. Luigi himself then advised his son Ernesto and his wife Paola to open a dyeing factory with a workshop in Via Appia. The year was 1965.
It’s the 1960s and Italy is experiencing strong economic growth. Enthusiasm is through the roof. This creates an opportunity to bring the two activities together under one roof; so in 1980 the laundry and dry cleaners merged into the family-run company in Via Centova, which remained so for over 15 years.
It was in these years that the third generation of the Berardi family, made up of Mirco and Maurizio (Ernesto’s sons), refined their professional culture in the textile field, participating not only actively in the work of the business, but also taking courses and internships, attending companies in the sector throughout the country, from dyeing factories to leather workshops.
The intent is to specialize in order to realize another turnover, carrying on the baton and keeping up with the times: in the name of tradition but also of modernity.
In order to be able to offer a complete service to the market of the Umbrian capital and its surroundings, a few years later Mirco and Maurizio inaugurated two new laundries which, in addition to ordinary work, each specialized in a specific sector: we are talking about Mirco’s ‘Berardi Laundry’ and Maurizio’s ‘MB Laundry’ – which we are going to get to know in detail.
Mirco and his wife Nadia settle in Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, with multiple services in the sector; as far as private individuals are concerned, they carry out dry cleaning in water and ironing while, as industrial laundry, they deal with both garment dyeing (both in the corporate and private sectors) and ready-to-wear fashion, offering “vintage” and “stone” type treatments; These specific procedures, thanks to the qualified contribution of his daughter Camilla, who is always up-to-date between courses in chemical companies and present as a ‘customizer’ at numerous trade fairs in the sector, such as that of ITMA Milan (world textile fair).
Coming then to sanitizing washes, thanks to their collaborators Simone, Francesco and Massimiliano – and the precious contribution of the ironer Laura – the laundry gives the opportunity to thoroughly clean and sanitize garments such as carpets, curtains, sofas, sofas and shoes.
In addition, Mirco & C. offer a rental service of linen and tablecloths for the accommodation sector (such as campsites, farmhouses, B&Bs, etc…) In addition to pick-up and delivery by own means: they already serve over a hundred customers.
Maurizio’s MB Laundry is located in Via Piccolpasso (a side street of Via Settevalli). The working group is made up of his wife Tiziana and the valuable contribution of his collaborators Alessandra, Laura, Bruno and Mattia; They explain to us how there are certifications that attest to the guarantee and quality of work for the laundry – not only due to years of experience in the sector, but also to the continuous updates on the properties of new materials and process technologies, thanks to the technical assistance of the LART (Textile Analysis and Research Laboratory).
In addition to the usual work for private individuals such as the washing of duvets, windbreakers, fine garments and carpets, MB has been providing its washing testing services for the correct labelling of the care of garments to well-known companies in the textile sector for years.
Since the early years of his activity, Maurizio has specialized in the washing and maintenance of leather garments, studying and practicing in large laboratories throughout Italy; For this reason, it is recognized for its trust, prestige and exclusivity in the way it operates. Their fame is due to the work and reliability shown over the years; For this reason, they have an international clientele, in addition to the usual work for individuals and companies.
