We get to know the Horus Center in Montevarchi, a structure created to meet the growing needs of the territory – specialized services, prevention and cutting-edge health care. In addition to the multifaceted capillarity of skills, there is a very attentive reception and secretarial service, on a human scale as well as quite efficient. We talk about it with the head of communication Caterina Meniconi who cordially welcomes us with a positive and enthralling spirit – and leads us into Center among a circle of enterprising doctors and a maze of sophisticated machinery.

The Horus Center was born in 2006 from an ‘istinctive’ reaction to an event linked to its owner: “A person close to him got hurt and this fact particularly affected him. From then on, he would need an urgent and important physiotherapy course: so he himself, together with his partners and friends, decided to found the Center in the heart of Valdarno, out of the desire to help and do something for his friend,” Caterina tells us.

It is easy to understand how a structure born from such foundations, of a deliberately ethical and human nature, has had a significant impact on the territory, basing its services on a strong factor of listening and solidarity, integrated with a very long and growing series of specialized services at an affordable cost. This is the Horus Center today: a progressively evolving container of medical and physiotherapy services, to which has been added a productive and high-performance analysis centre of Cerba Healthcare, inaugurated just at the beginning of the year.

“Thanks to the work of highly experienced doctors and rising professionals, with experimental and innovative methods, assisted by highly experienced administrative and secretarial staff, Horus provides the latest generation technology for treatment and prevention,” he explains.

Specifically, and to give a few examples, we are talking about ultrasound machines and new machinery in the field of gynaecology and radio diagnostics with a very defined 3D scan, with new technologies that already use artificial intelligence – as well as the use of the cardiac and blood pressure holter to briefly monitor the data and make a diagnosis quickly.

In otolaryngology, operating room equipment is used, as well as there are brand new machines for audiometric examinations. The fiberscope, for example, has the smallest paediatric equipment in the world and uses a newly developed light capable of staining cells, distinguishing pathogenic from healthy ones: “It is clear that prevention is decisive, especially for these diseases, where immediate results and early diagnosis are essential and can save lives,” she adds.

Finally, we want to bring to the reader’s attention a particular and highly requested service of the Horus Center: assisted medical procreation which makes use of a team of professionals of great reputation, including Prof. Luca Mencaglia, Surgeon and Specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics, Director of the Regional Network of Tuscany for the treatment of infertility, founder and President of the PMA Italia Foundation – able to accompany the couple with sensitivity and competence in their parenthood journey.

It is worth mentioning here that infertility is a universal challenge, as it involves 17.5% of the adult population worldwide, which is equivalent to about one in six people. The percentage, in Italy, is around 15%; a figure that becomes worrying because it is accompanied by the constant contraction of birth rates and a delay in the average age at the first pregnancy.

In order to help couples fulfil their desire for parenthood, the Horus Center therefore offers valid and multiple solutions, with the best professionals in the sector.
