The Bohemian artist beyond the trend.

We enter Giordano Brunelli’s minimalist salon in Gubbio and discover the success of a young talent in his words.

Giordano, where does your passion for hairstyle come from, how did your career begin?

Even as a teenager, when I enjoyed cutting my friends’ hair, I felt this passion of mine. Then the choice, after graduating, to attend “Io Hair Academy” in Gubbio, consolidated this desire of mine. At the Academy I was lucky enough to meet Paolo Fermi, a teacher with a strong artistic sense who helped me to express my creative talent and bring it back both in aesthetics, creating my own style, and in empathy, which helps me to understand the people who rely on me.

After the Academy, how did you approach the world of work?

I started with an internship in a well-known salon in the area that trained me and after a year I had the opportunity to work alongside a barber at the end of my career with whom I agreed to take over the business at his retirement. It was different from what I had done up to that moment, but I wanted to get involved and give myself more opportunities by training in the men’s sector as well.

After a year, the handover took place and this opportunity gave me the opportunity to interpret my idea at 360 °; that is, to make my work dynamic also by moving around the world to get to know and assimilate the various styles. The intent was to create a completely different vision around me from the previous one.

How did the GB Barber brand and the new salon come about?

I felt the need to communicate the message: “She & Him beyond the trend” which, after past experiences, I felt belonged to me. I wanted to break the barriers of classic hairstyle and go further, regardless of gender. I looked for a more suitable solution to bring together both technical competence and innate creativity. In 2021, with all the difficulties of the moment, I finally opened the new GB Barber Salon, involving Giada Mazzoni next to me, who mainly deals with the female part.

To date, what is the artistic evolution that you feel you have achieved?

As soon as it opened and knowing the area well, I knew that it would be complicated to immediately gain consensus from a small town like Gubbio. Then came the first opportunities of great appeal. In 2022 I was called to Sanremo SOL, a showcase linked to the Italian Song Festival, as a hair-stylist for the participating singers. In the following two years, again in Sanremo, I was in the private team of the Cugini di Campagna.

Later, other doors opened: from music, with the Wonderlast Music Festival, to film collaborations, as in the film shot in Umbria “L’età giusta”, up to support for fashion shows and photo shoots. All this has made me grow in communication and creativity, so today I hope that this combination between the fair and artistic events can continue.

What do you see on the horizon for GB Barber?

Now I would like to consolidate this creative reality by trying to transmit it naturally, through music and art, communicating this talent of mine. Success is being able to continue to bring the experience I assimilate in my travels and transmit it in my own way here, creating a unique style for my clients starting from their hair.
