The Tenuta di Sticciano, located on a picturesque panoramic hill on the right bank of the Elsa, between the branches of the Pesciola stream, has established its business and architectural relevance since the 16th century and by the late 17th century, under the management of the noble Florentine family of the Tornaquinci, it was already an expanded and well-organized estate.

 

 

Before the creation of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, there were no traces of the farm: it is only from the beginning of the 14th century that the presence of the future lands of the estate becomes evident, initially divided into small local agricultural units, some of which already belonged to Florentine merchants.

During the early Medici age, central Valdelsa was characterized by the absence of large landholdings, and it was only from the late 17th century that larger farms began to appear, often owned by the Florentine aristocracy: it is likely that during the second half of the 16th century, the social and political reorganization of Valdelsa by the Medici regime also favored the birth of the Sticciano Farm as a property of the prestigious Tornaquinci family.

In the following centuries, the Tenuta di Sticciano underwent various transformations, adapting to the changing times while maintaining its essence intact.
