Happiness is in deferring it not in having it in having it There is the boredom of having had it.
As Blaise Pascal once said happiness is certainly not a childish bourgeois divertissement, or a diversion or distraction, or as we say today an entertainment able to inebriate one away from contingent matters and questions. But it is an awareness, a consciousness of one’s condition, from which issues ethics and personal aesthetics, appolonian and dionysian spirit.
Happiness is thus not forgetfulness but presence, action, mastery.
To be happy therefore it’s necessary to be in agreement with oneself. With one’s nature and inner harmony. Nosce te ipsum. The Latins thought of music as describing this state of grace and thus harmony was like a furrow (lira, Ae) or a path opened on the Earth. A song that becomes tuneless, de(lira)ious, if we move away from the track, which is our irreducible essence.
Just like a plough which as its digs shows the road to follow, thought and action are united in an indissoluble way and therefore the opportunity is not available to lie to yourself and live a superficial, impersonal and fictitious existence,
In particular, in order to reveal to oneself ones roots, one’s own actual condition cultivation is required - to stay with the rural metaphor – two fundamental aspects: are the spirit, in its highest sense of rational and sensitive knowledge and instinct, or the irrational and intuitive ability to recognize our own good, or better, what belongs to us.
To refine reason, philosophy, poetry and music will be useful. Get out of this world and start reading and taking it seriously. To regain instinct lose yourself in nature, you need a wild and unconditional contact with it. Forget about comfort and take on the idea of hard effort and breathe it in. Get used to the storms. If you are still empowered do not indulge in vain contemplation.
lovers of purely materialistic pleasure principle, know that happiness is never selfish, but proceeds from the principle of truth. For this reson the individual is never alone because the realization of the man in his private sphere implies the same to the family/ community he belongs too.
this time I have said enough. Frankly I don’t even know why I’ve done. it perhaps i am too generous. Or maybe I was just bored.
